Stockholm Sports Trauma Research Center has a Qualisys 8-camera Qualisys Motion Capture system. In combination with one AMTI force plates and a Noraxon EMG System, the system will be used in sport medicine and perform both basic and clinical research and prevent sports injuries through better information.
The biomechanical research at the motion analysis laboratory at Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital started in 2000. Result from this research has formed the base for 4 theses and around 10 articles published in international scientific journals. More than 220 gait analyses are done in the laboratory each year. Course in biomechanics and gait analysis are given on a yearly basis.
The motion analysis unit has now extended the laboratory facilities by establishing a motion analysis unit at the new Stockholm Sports Trauma Research Center in the new building at Sophiahemmet in Stockholm. This will make it possible to study the biomechanical effects of various sport injuries and evaluate the effect of rehabilitation programs on these patients.
