Qualisys together with the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre and University of Salzburg did a study on the biomechanics of ice hockey players. Biomechanics expert Mikael Swarén describes the project and talks about previous collaborations.
We looked at a number different parameters and evaluated the feasability to use mocap to analyse movements of ice hockey players. The equipment worn by the players makes it a non-trivial challenge to get data that actually means something.
In this setting, we had a camera setup comprising of 20 high resolution Oqus 7+ cameras which were mounted on the ice and on the plexi glass around the rink. The long range of the Oqus 7+ made it possible to use this kind of setup.
