Optical marker-based tracking is the most accurate method today if you need a proven and robust tracking solution, but for specific applications, optical markerless motion capture is the more suitable option.
To make sure that you get the best of both worlds from your next motion capture system investment, Qualisys has developed the Miqus Hybrid camera, which gives you the possibility to perform either marker-based tracking or markerless tracking with the same camera system.
You will get a state-of-the-art marker-based motion capture system with proven performance and at the same time make sure your investment is future-proof.
Hardware for markerless & marker-based motion capture
Miqus Hybrid
With Miqus Hybrid, switching between marker-based motion capture and markerless motion capture is straight forward.
The Miqus Hybrid camera is a dual mode camera capable of streaming full HD color video at 85 frames per second or streaming marker data at 340 frames per second. Switching between marker-based motion capture and collecting color video for markerless motion capture is as easy as pressing a button in Qualisys Track Manager (QTM).
Miqus Video
Miqus Video is a high-speed color video camera capable of streaming HD color video at up to 480 fps and can reach full resolution of 2.8MP. It can be used in a multi-camera system dedicated to markerless motion capture.
Combined with any marker-based motion capture cameras from Qualisys, a true dual-purpose optical motion capture system is created, able to provide marker-based and markerless data from the same recording.
Software for markerless & marker-based motion capture
Theia Markerless
Calibrate and capture in Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) using Miqus Hybrid and Miqus Video cameras, while the Theia software tracks and post-processes the data.
The end result is exported to Visual 3D for further analysis and reporting. Theia has intelligent joint detection and labeling, multi-subject tracking and identification, as well as automatic model creation.
Option #3 Combined marker-based and markerless motion capture
System Setup
8+ Miqus Video
8+ Arqus cameras (or any Qualisys marker-based camera)
What can you do?
Marker-based tracking
Markerless tracking
Combined marker-based and markerless tracking
A hybrid solution for your markerless research
The Miqus Hybrid solution is the perfect choice for researchers on markerless motion capture algorithms since it can act as both a ground truth system and also jump-start the research project by providing already synchronized and calibrated cameras.
Marker-based motion capture in one take and a follow up with a markerless mocap right after with the same software, cameras and coordinate system to make comparison straight forward. For maximum flexibility, you can also choose to invest in dedicated marker-based cameras and Miqus Video cameras, which automatically synchronize together in the same system allowing simultaneous capture of both marker-based and markerless data.
In short, whether you want to do markerless motion capture, marker-based motion capture, or a combination of both, Qualisys has the solution!
