Gothenburg Sports Test Center in Sweden was inaugurated on March 17, 2011 by Prince Daniel of Sweden. The Test Center is included in the department of nutrition and sports science, IKI within Gothenburg University. The building of 3500 square meters is a meeting place for researchers, educators and students, where coaches, athletes and health customers are daily partners.
The Sport Center includes a multi-sport hall, a dance room, lecture halls, conference rooms, special gym and several rooms with sophisticated measuring equipment, primarily for strength, endurance and movement analysis. The Motion Capture Lab is equipped with 16 Oqus 300+ cameras, four Kistler force plates and an 8-channel Noraxon EMG system.
The Laboratory for Health and Performance Development aims to become a national center for applied education and research concerning sports, health and nutrition in western Sweden. This does not only cover the needs of integration between theory and practice that exists within relevant courses at the University of Gothenburg, but also intends to meet public health and sports community needs for competence development, applied research and development and operating methodology and testing field.
Through the unique premises of a well-functioning academic environment the business idea for the Laboratory for Health and Performance Development, is to conduct education, research and other business activities: customized training and health promotion, dissemination and implementation of knowledge in research field and product/service innovation.
